Exploring the Mekong River on a $6 million Luxury Cruise

A four-star cruise ship on the Mekong River, traveling from Can Tho to Cambodia, offers resort amenities and visits to the charming waterways of the Mekong Delta.

Since December 2019, the Victoria Mekong cruise ship has become a highlight of tourism on the Hau River, one of the two main branches of the Mekong River leading to the sea (known as the Cuu Long River in Vietnam).

Mr. Pham Huu Nghia, the cruise’s managing director, revealed that the ship was constructed over 18 months at a cost of $6 million (approximately 140 billion VND). The three-story ship measures 76.8 meters in length, 13.2 meters in width, and accommodates a maximum of 70 guests in 35 rooms. The ship primarily serves international tour groups, allowing them to experience the Mekong Delta region in Vietnam before concluding the journey in Siem Reap, Cambodia. The cruise starts in Can Tho, with guests from Ho Chi Minh City being picked up by car.

Guests can enjoy panoramic views of the Mekong River from the Sky Deck, equipped with tables, chairs, umbrellas, and even a mini golf course for entertainment and conversation. Most guests prefer to enjoy the scenery during the cool evenings and early mornings.

For Mr. Chris from the UK, it was his first time experiencing the Mekong River from a cruise ship. He expressed excitement about exploring the life and culture along one of the world’s largest rivers.

In addition to complimentary amenities like a swimming pool, jacuzzi, reading room, movie theater, spa, and gym, guest rooms average 30 square meters and all offer views of the river.

There are various itinerary options for guests, ranging from a two-day, one-night trip from Can Tho to Long Xuyen, to a seven-night journey ending in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Prices range from approximately 7-14 million VND for the two-day trip to over 143 million VND for the seven-night tour, depending on the itinerary and room category.
